Digi Pack Images

As a group we decided to do a 'photoshoot' in order to attain a professional looking image for our front cover for our album. We also plan on using some of the images in the later stages of creating our digi-pack, for example when we make our tour posters.

We asked Millie (Our artist) to bring a selection of outfits so that we could gather a range of different images. Similarly, we also styled her hair differently in a few of the shots for a sense of variety. We were fairly critical when whittling down the images to our final few as we had lots that either were just unsuccessful or that looked almost identical. Below are 4 images we disregarded and the image we have selected to be on our front cover.

Option 1)

This is the first image that we considered using. Although we liked Millie's hair up, exposing her face and emphasising her sombre facial expression, we felt as though her posture looked a little awkward and un-natural, which is something we were trying to avoid. We want Nova to appear relaxed and comfortable, showing her belief in her album and a sense of familiarity with her fan base.

Option 2)

This was the second image that came under the spotlight. Although this image was a strong contender due to its sense of maturity and status, Millie's posture again made us decide against it. We felt that her head was positioned oddly and we were not certain that it would look effective upon our front cover, for this sole reason, we rejected it.

Option 3)

This was our third option. It most certainly was one that took strong consideration. We liked that her shoulders were exposed as it connoted a sense of vulnerability, In addition we liked that her facial expression was fairly natural and not over posed. However, we did feel that her expression was a little vague and gave no indication as to what the 'theme' was for our album.
This was the third option. It was one of the first images we took portrait rather than landscape

                                                                       Option 4)
Out of all the images apparent in this blog post, this image is our least favourite. We had tried a different style and took the photo portrait instead of landscape. Although we liked the style of portrait and continued to use it whilst taking our other images, we just didn't feel that this photo was our most successful. The reasoning behind this is that a lot of Millie's body is visible yet she is not posing, she is just stood there which may appear unprofessional. Similarly, it takes the focus away from her face which is of course, one of the most important features in trying to get 'Nova' well known within the music industry.

Chosen Image)

This is the image we chose to use on our album cover. As mentioned before, we thought taking the photo portrait was the most successful and we feel it looks particularly effective within this image. The reasoning behind selecting this image as our favourite is mainly down to the natural vibes it gives off. It's clear to see that Millie is posing however she is not over doing it and instead looks subtly photogenic. Her relaxed stance enforces this idea of a relaxed state of mind, suggesting her collecting all of the pieces of herself after her break-up, she has collected her 'fragments' and finally feels content with herself. However, her vague facial expression leaves the option open for her fans to decipher the true meanings of the songs - she isn't giving too much away.

Now that we have selected this image we plan on editing it in order to give it that 'finished' touch.
