We chose pink as our main colour, we felt that this was an appropriate way of subliminally representing love. In addition, we selected pink to be a feature colour as our main colour scheme within our video is blues and pinks and so using these colours in these particular shots will show continuity within our project.
We began by shooting some lip syncing scenes. The main focus of this filming day was to gather some successful footage that we could use for the ending of our video as we were unhappy with the already existing footage we had and we feel as though the ending of the video is probabaly one of the most important parts as it's the bit that leaves an impression on the audience, so it is crucial to get it just right. We also asked Millie to lip sync the chorus again as this is obviously the most frequent part of the song and so the bit we need the most footage for. With this being said, we wanted to make sure we had enough, just incase we needed to chop and change some bits of our video hence why we filmed that.
Once we had a sufficient amount of lip syncing shots, Kate suggested filming some candid clips, this is so that we could have some shots that slot into our video and continue our theme of point of view shots. These shots consisted of Millie flipping her hair, laughing and just looking at the camera.
The majority of shots that we filmed were mid-close ups and wide angle shots. We tried to keep the camera positioned straight on. We think that these types of shots will not only fit in with the rest of our footage but also help the video look more professional as we are focusing on one part of the shot instead of having a complicated frame that could take away from the actual footage itself.
Costume
We wanted to keep Millie's outfit fairly simple for this part of the video and so black jeans paired with black boots seemed the most appropriate choice. Although simply, they still have an edgy look to them. However, to keep in with the pink theme we chose to put Millie in a pale pink halter neck; helping to express Nova's more feminine side. For hair we decided on natural wavy hair as we wanted Nova to look completely effortless in these sceens. The top that Nova is wearing has an extremely low back, we felt that this was a good choice as it showed off Nova's more rebellious and grown up side.
Review of footage
In this clip you can see Kate filming some candids of Millie for our point of view shots. Once this clip is cut, edited and placed correctly in our video - it will look amazing. The only downside to this video is that the background of the rest of the studio is slightly evident. However, this can be easily fixed by using the the 'crop to fill' tool on iMovie which will trim the sides of the video and ensure only the most important things can be seen, e.g. Nova.
The above clip is of Millie lip syncing the chorus of the song. I personally feel as though Millie was successful in terms of conveying her emotion through the use of closing her eyes. Similarly, her knowledge of the lyrics enabled the lip-syncing to look realistic. Unfortunately, the overall lighting of this clip is fairly dark so, if we use this clip, we will take to the editing suit to brighten it up a bit.
