Tour poster photograph selection

Option 1

This image is one of our the most successful that came from the shoot. I feel that Millie looks natural and her stance seems casual  and approachable which is great in terms of attracting an audience.  She is positioned off centre, linking in with our video as vast majority of the footage that we filmed of Millie was off centre. I like that Millie's body is turned ever so slightly to an angle as it is suggestive of Nova being interested in her audience, she wants to open up to them. This will be good for Nova as her fans will feel as if she cares about them, making them interested in her and what she does. Having Millie's hair half infront half behind makes a difference to a majority of albums where we see celebrities with all of their hair immaculately done and all bought forward. Lastly I think the fact that you can see Millie's shadow is effective as it looks almost mysterious, which will intregue the audience. In reflection, I feel that this image is a strong contender for our final choice.

Option 2

Our second option was the image I have placed to the right hand side. Nova is looking fairly blankly towards the camera with her body shifted slightly to the side. I personally do not feel that this is the most successful image we took due to Nova's stance, instead of Millie's attempt of looking effortless she seems to have ended up looking a little stiff and her facial expression looks as though she isn't with it - as if she doesn't really want to be there which of course, is not the kind of message she wants to send out to her fans. Alternatively her vague stare could be interpreted as being mysterious and seductive which may interest her audience. I do not feel that this is the image we will end up using purely down to the fact that I know we have better ones.

Option 3

At this point in the shoot we had decided to experient with differnt body positions. In this image, we played around with Millie stood turned so that you can see her side profile.Experimenting with different body positions and angles is crucial in a photoshoot process so that we can determine what angles work and what ones don't. I feel that this angle is successful as it differs from the other images we have taken and used of Nova beforehand, allowing for her fans to see her from all angles - making their relationship appear more personal. When it comes to adding in text we could then do something a bit more creative like having the text morphe around the outline of her profile. The only thing about this image that I am not too keen on is the lighting, it isn't as flawless as it is in the other images however, this could be something we fix on photoshoot if we were to choose it.

 Option 4 / Chosen Image

This is the fourth and final image - the image we all liked the most. I personally feel that Millie's stance in this image is really effective, she really does look like a celebrity - she looks confident and ready to take on her first tour. The way in which she is staring directly at the camera suggests a sense of power and status and her serious attitude towards her music, she wants people to come and here what she has made, she wants people to appreciate her work.
We chose to place her hair behind her shoulders so that her face was fully on show and it also allowed for her direct stare to be the main focal point. In addition to the effectiveness of Millie's pose, the photograph itself is of a very high quality making it look professional, giving the impression that Nova is in the big leagues of the music industry. The shot we used (wide medium shot) works really well here as it shows off the right amount of Nova's outfit as well as leaving enough space either side of her for text to be inserted or for space to be cut out.
